Spay/Neuter
| |
|
In each of the towns and small cities of Romania, there are thousands of stray cats and dogs wandering the streets, scrounging for food and shelter amidst the foot and car traffic. Since 2004, Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. has funded the spay/neuter of nearly 8600 stray animals in Romania. This program has provided the Romanians the assistance needed to bring the stray animal overpopulation down to a manageable level so that all of the animals can receive better care and attention.

Educate
| |
|
Educating animal welfare advocacy to Romanians is the best way to have Romanians continue the work we have started. We conduct veterinarian training twice a year to teach local veterinarians modern spay/neuter procedures. We have also initiated a "Compassion Is Cool" campaign for the citizens of Romania to take care of their animals.

Sponsor a Shelter Dog
| |
|
Help RAR to help the shelter dogs! 50 RON (about $25) will sponsor the food and care of a shelter dog in Romania for a month! You will receive a photo of your sponsored dog! We are running this program in coordination with Romania Animal Rescue Foundation. Now we want to get help for the dogs in other ways!

Veterinarian Training
| |
|
Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. sends veterinarians to Romania to train local veterinarians in modern spay/neuter procedures makes our charity unique to others. RAR's vet training program is the one thing that makes our charity unique to others, and is very well received in Romania. We have a waiting list of charities that want us to send vets to train their vets! We need only the cost of the supplies for our vets, as generous support of frequent flyer miles have allowed RAR to send the US vets to Romania at no cost, and the veterinarians and friends in Romania have offered accommodations for the US vets while they are in Romania. Each training program costs $6000 in supplies.

Compassion Is Cool
| |
|
RAR is embarking on a training program in Romanian schools to show the school children how to care for the animals around them. PETA has donated 50 educational packages, each to be used in a classroom (50 classrooms!), to teach young students about animals. We have also received 1000 educational books that have been donated by Marchig Animal Welfare Trust to get us going on this new campaign! Thank you, PETA and Marchig Animal Welfare Trust, for helping us educate the people of Romania.

Rehoming
| |
|
For those spayed/neutered cats and dogs, rehoming is the next step. We are working with several organizations both in Romania and the United States to find loving homes for these animals.
