In 2008 we met
Stichting Wereld Asielen, a wonderful group in Holland, who wanted to help Mr. Cenac's dogs. Thanks to a very successful meeting at EXPO 2009, RAR was able to arrange a donation of dog food for Mr. Cenac's dogs from Holland, but the deal needed to be handled by a Dutch charity. Welcome Stichting Wereld Asielen! They graciously stepped up to the plate and arranged everything for the storage and transport of the food for the dogs (very high quality food) and have continued to do so.
Stichting Wereld Asielen stepped in to help Mr. Cenac, and we are forever grateful to them for this act of compassion. This has allowed RAR to continue and improve our spay/neuter programs in Romania.
Recently the tables have turned for the worse for Mr. Cenac and his shelter. The shelter's land is more valuable now, and the city wants the dogs out. They have told Mr. Cenac he must leave as well. On top of this, a woman whom the city had hired to work at the shelter was subsequently fired, and took revenge by breaking into the shelter and killing a handicapped dog, and stealing many things. Whether due to this tragedy or fate, Mr. Cenac ended up in the hospital with his heart condition. His wife looked after the shelter as best she could. Thanks to Romania Animal Rescue donations, we have been able to hire a worker for the shelter.
There is no place for the dogs to go, except to be killed by the city.
Romania Animal Rescue and Stichting Wereld Asielen have decided to work together to purchase land and build a shelter for the 250 dogs of Mr. Cenac's. RAR will try to purchase the land, and Stichting Wereld Asielen will build and maintain the shelter and supply the food and other costs for the dogs. This task we are undertaking is huge, but I know it is the right thing to do. Thanks to our plea in July's newsletter, some funds from our donors have been raised towards the cost of the land.
Rory and Nancy Janes are donating $2000 to the cost for the land purchase, and would like to ask you if you can help as well, either with a matching donation or whatever you can afford. The remaining cost for the land is now approximately $13,000.
This is true teamwork, for a truly amazing man and his dogs. They needed us then, and they need us now. We simply cannot turn our backs on them.
Thank you for reading this plea for help. I know this comes at a very hard time financially for all of us. I hope you can help us to help Mr. Cenac and his dogs. As for Mr. Cenac, he is out of the hospital, but still ill. We are hoping that our love for him and his dogs will help to pull him through this trauma.
Please help fund the purchase of this land for a new shelter. For more information, contact
